Abbington of Arlington is a great place for mom or dad. I have had a loved one at Arlington for over a year now. The staff are super attentive to my Mom and they always go above and beyond. I highly recommend Abbington of Arlington for your loved one. We have had a positive experience with my own family member there.
Abbington of Arlington is a beautiful place. The staff are very attentive to your needs, the place is clean and the staff are professional. I would recommend this Assisted Living Facility to everyone that has a loved one in need.
The level of care and compassion the staff has for the residents is fantastic. Those who live at Abbington are treated as capable and intelligent people and not old people who are just there paying the staff's salaries. Susanne has charged her staff with keeping the residents engaged in daily life and Tracey works tirelessly to keep them active and interested - body, mind and spirit.
(06/07/2023) Beware when you send your loved one to this facility. My husband Bob lived there almost three months from Feb. 24 on. He fell in the bathroom on May 18, 2023, got severe injuries and was sent to the ER of riverside hospital, stayed in hospital for 6 days, then went to a rehab center till now, he still stays in a rehab center for further recovery from the injuries of the fall. He has shown the symptoms of cerebral concussion sequelae: dazed, headache, vomiting, sensitive to light, fatigue, difficulty to move around, memory further lost. And his lifespan has been greatly threatened, the quality of life has been severely affected. I have known there are many problems in this facility, especially the neglect of care. Regretfully the owner Mike never thinks he should have the accountability for Bob's falling (Bob was not the first resident who fell in Abbington. Lucky him, the owner, he never had any accountability for the falling of the residents). I don't know if it is because of the personality of the owner, in Abbington, the employees like to fight each other, to fight with the new executive director or new colleagues, try every best to discover others’ mistakes and then tattling. In such a poor working environment, an ill cultural environment, the victims are not the employees themselves who are still young and energetic, the real victims are the residents who are neglected by the care team. I witnessed that in the middle of February before Bob moved to Abbington, the former executive director Stephanie who worked in Abbington for less than 10 months was fired, and probably in April or the early May, Trevor who worked in Abbington just about a few months was demoted from care coordinator to nurse, and the “new” executive director Eldina who was in the office just about three months had resigned. So, we won't know how long the new director who is replacing Eldina will stay in the seat? Because the leadership team is very unstable, the care is neglect, irresponsible. (2023-06-25) The owner lied to the public for its irresponsible service that caused Bob to fall and has gotten service injuries and threatened his life and affected his life quality. His falling was unexpectedly and preventable, but the irresponsible attitude caused Bob to fall. Last Friday he came home from a rehab center, Bob is not himself anymore. He cannot recognize where his bedroom is, where the bathroom is, and he forgets how to fold his bed. He is so weak, he doesn’t have strength to independently walk two steps. Before Feb. 24, when he was home, he could help himself to do all the things including he could manage part of his medication except he didn’t cook. Now after he fell in Abbington, he cannot do anything. ”I need help, I need help,...”, he says that in a faint voice all the time. And his concussion symptoms are severe. Before, he lived in the bright, now he lives in the dark, he is afraid of lights. All the time Abbington never cooperates with us, never respects its residents and their caregivers. We requested Bob’s medical records 18 days ago by phone call and by sending a post mail, but until now we didn’t get the record. We don’t know it is because Abbington doesn’t have it or doesn’t want to give it to us.
(6/4/23) Bob moved to Abbington on Feb. 24, 2023. We gave all trust to it, but the fact is it is not trustable. While Bob was staying there, his health deteriorated. He got Covid there, but no one informed his caregiver. He fell in the bathroom on May 18, got severe injuries, but no one let his caregiver know. Bob was not the first resident who fell in Abbington, the sadness is that the owner Mike never cares about the falling of the residents, always accusing that it was the fault of the residents themselves like he said about Bob: “He did not pull his cord for assistance which is not unusual since he is fairly independent. He did not pull his cord after the apparent fall for assistance.” About Bob, (1) has shown many symptoms of concussion sequelae: dazed, headache, vomiting, sensitive to light, fatigue, difficult to move around, memory further lost. (2) his lifespan has been greatly threatened, the quality of life has been severely affected. Abbington is not trustable for caring seniors. Regretfully the owner never thinks he should have the accountability for Bob's falling.
