FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

At Mass this weekend, we hear the familiar story of the widow who put two small coins in
the treasury. Jesus highlights the woman’s generosity because hers was a sacrificial gift. I
would like everyone to remember the example of this poor widow when we launch our
upcoming Stewardship of Treasure Offertory Appeal. More details on that initiative will be
provided next week.

This Monday, November 11, is Veteran’s Day. We recognize the sacrifices our veterans make to defend
our nation. These men and women deserve our prayers, support, and gratitude. Let us ask God to watch
over all military personnel who put their lives at risk for the good of others.

In last weekend’s bulletin, I mentioned that November is a month dedicated to praying for our deceased
family members and friends. Perhaps you can make time to visit a Catholic cemetery at some point in
the next few weeks. In these sacred places, we honor our beloved dead. Moreover, if you would like to
learn more about how to plan for your own passing, consider attending the “My Last Wishes” seminar
next Saturday. At that event, you will hear more about the practical aspects of planning your transition
from this life to the next.
